Help Save My Marriage - Relationship Tips to Avoid a Divorce

Many people refer to marriage as a job in itself. As silly as it sounds it does have some bearing in truth. Relationships take work and over time a couple can become complacent and fall into a rut.

They may start to take each other for granted until they really don't communicate effectively anymore. Resentment can build until it reaches a point where divorce seems like the only option.

This was the situation I found myself in and I looked for any advice I could find to help save my marriage. I realized that in order to save my relationship the first step required focusing on myself

In my search to find advice to help save my marriage a lot of it dealt with what I could do by myself to salvage the relationship. I knew that some of my actions had contributed to the breakdown of communication between me and my spouse, so I wanted to do whatever I could to remedy that.

I had taken to doing more and more on my own, instead of planning activities that we could do together.

I started making a point of asking my spouse to accompany me on errands and I also planned dinners just for the two of us. I knew that if we had an opportunity to have one-on-one time we'd stand a much better chance of saving everything we had built together through the years.

I also make a commitment to start seeing my spouse in a more positive light. I had developed a very bad habit of criticizing much more often than I was praising.

I knew that if I wanted to help save my marriage I had to adopt a better outlook and I had to seek out the best parts of my spouse as opposed to dwelling on what was undesirable. It goes without saying that saving a marriage takes effort, but it's certainly well worth it.
